The City of Excelsior Springs designated a Hall of Waters Historic District in March 2007. In July 2010, two additional districts were added to the landmarks register -- the Elms Historic District and the Boarding House District. The Commission has established design guidelines for guiding rehabilitation, restoration and preservation within the districts and conducts Certificate of Appropriateness reviews. Recently, the Commission worked with Winter and Company to develop a Comprehensive Historic Preservation Plan over the next few years, which will guide the Commission in future historic district designation.
